Pierre Testor

welcome to my homepage. I am an oceanographer, currently working at LOCEAN-IPSL (ex LODYC, Paris, France) in the team "Dynamic Processes, Atmosphere-Ocean" (PRODYAM). After my PhD in 2002, I worked for 3 years (2003-2006) as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz-Institut für Meereswissenschaften (IFM-GEOMAR, Kiel, Germany) in the Division Ocean Circulation and Climate Dynamics, Research Unit Processes and Observing Systems.

Research Interests

• in situ observations of currents and water properties from various platforms (Lagrangian, Eulerian, and "in-between")

• numerical modelling of the ocean circulation

• regional oceanography

• mesoscale and submesoscale processes (eddies, waves, fronts): origin, role in the transport and mixing of water masses, effects on biology...

• wintertime deep (and intermediate) convection
